A bit of this and that!

Firstly thank you to everyone who commented on my last post! Yay, people are visiting smilernpb's bloggy world! :o)

In answer to the most popular question, we do not (yet) know the sex of the baby. My 20 week scan is on the 10th March, so we're busy keeping fingers crossed that we will be able to find out then. I hate surprises! Although, for some reason I would perhaps, having already got both a boy and a girl, think it would perhaps possible be nice (in some way) NOT to know and for it to be a suprise. Hubby on the other hand wants to know. No matter what! And would, I think, be disappointed not to find out. My feeling is that it is a girl. Does anyone know any of the old wives' tales for predicting the sex of the baby? It might be fun to try those out.

The children, on the other hand, both want the baby to be a boy. Why? Because they don't want to swap bedrooms! In our house we have three bedrooms - Mummy and Daddy's, B's and M's. Mummy and Daddy have their room, and B, being six has the next biggest room, nicely wallpapered blue with some pictures and drawings on the wall, and M has the smaller of the rooms (to be honest, it's big enough, but would naturally be nicer if it was a bit bigger - the result of too many toys I think!) nicely painted pink with a Dora the Explorer border and those 'stick around' sticker things. Anyway, B does not want the baby to be a girl, as the two girls would then need the bigger room....and he does not want a pink bedroom. M does not like blue, so too is hoping for a boy, so the boys can share B's room. Hmmm, I think they have not clicked that we can, dare I say it, 'decorate' their new rooms, should they need to swap!

I've been thinking, and strangely, I'm really looking forward to Sunday. Why Sunday? Because it spells the end of February. My/our total and utter nightmare of a month. It all started with the snow, yes it was lovely, but due to hubby being a motorcycle instructor, it was also the start of nearly 10 days of 'nothing' for him - snow being an impossible condition to teach in. As a result, being self employed, it dramatically dropped his income for this month. Luckily everything that has needed to have been paid, now has, and so - roll on March!

I've been shopping this afternoon. No, not the lovely kind of shopping....the boring grocery kind. I was going to put it off until tomorrow, until I remembered that a) hubby is out all day at paintballing (oh my goodness!) quickly leading onto b) Saturdays are evil for shopping - especially with two children in tow. This year, for some reason, B and M suddenly need and/or want EVERYTHING. I am sure you know what it's like. And on a month where we've not had much spare cash, it's not been nice.

So I have been off venturing to various supermarkets in a bid to shop frugally. Where I live there is a massive 24 hour Tesco ('Superstore' I believe), where I used to do all my shopping, no matter what. The nearby town (5 mins away) has a wide choice - a 24 hour Asda (when hubby ran his business from a shop in said nearby town, I used to do my big shop, once a week at Asda), along with an Iceland, Aldi and Lidl. Oh and a Morrison's...so we are not short of shops at all.

My biggest grevience at the moment is finding something somewhere that I have previously purchased, on offer, cheaper. I hate that! Unfortunately for me, the best way of shopping at the moment seems to be a case of spreading what I used to do in one big shop over a number of smaller shops - annoying I suppose, but surely saving money has got to be better in the long run?

I'd be interested to know where you shop, and why?

I'm in awe of my American friends' blogs who tell about the savings, even free items that they get through using coupons. Unless I am completely unaware of it, there is no such provision for this in the UK...aside from the Tesco clubcard, which I guess gives me £15 back every three months. But you should read some of the posts, and the amount of stuff it is possible to get free if you are clever with coupons. Come on UK suppliers, help us out a little!

I follow a number of blogs at the moment with creative people, and I too am in awe of you guys. I am not very arty, but I really want to start and would love any pointers that anyone can give me as to where would be a great place to start. I have some time on my hands at the moment that I would love to make use of.

Right, that's all from me for the moment. Have a great weekend!

Scan Photo!!

I think I may have just sussed the photo thingy all by myself (feeling very smug now).
My first scan photo, from January. This was 12 weeks and 2 days.

New Start....

Oh, ok well my last attempt at setting up a blog and regularly updating it didn't work too well back in January. Since then, what have I been up to? Well, I have found some more fantastic blogs, and have continued to follow my 'old favourites' (no offence, ladies!) still from afar....without making too much of an imprint in their lives by making a comment, but this is to change!!

Now, I am not sure why I have had this change of heart, I think it might be because through reading other people's blogs I am finding myself similar to so many other people and I would so dearly love to chat with them as well as getting to know them through their blogs....so, watch out people! HERE I come! Haha.

Right, so what has changed or occurred since my last post....? Well....I AM PREGNANT! Well, to clarify, as I am 18 weeks, technically I was pregnant back then too, but hubby and I hadn't made the announcement (I have had three miscarriages in the past) so we were being extremely cautious and waiting until the 12 week scan before telling people, which believe me, was awful. I so cannot keep secrets!

Other than that, I am still a Playstation 3 widow, as mentioned in my first post, although to be fair, hubby does play this less now. The food issue seems to be solving itself as we've imposed strict no-snacking-after-school rule which results in dinner being devoured - yay! Even B, who got to the point where everything 'looks different and tastes funny' is a star. Bless him.

I'm trying to work out what to do for M's 4th birthday at the end of March. In the past we have celebrated the children's birthdays at the local soft play area, but this year we have come to the conclusion that it would work out too expensive, so I think we've settled on allowing her to have four friends from nursery round for a little 'tea party', obviously including B in the festivity. Just need to get everything sorted for that then, eeek!

I would love to know how to add photos to this blog, but perhaps I will learn that in a day or two. Anyway, I am off to introduce myself to some of the bloggers I have been anonymously following for the past couple of months, wish me luck!!
