I found Sugar Poke on Twitter, and they have an amzing website where you can send a yummy goodie box to a loved one, for a special occasion...or indeed, 'just because'. I think it's a FAB idea.
Anyway, yes, 'Honeycomb and Heaven' retails at £7 (including postage) and is letterbox sized (as most of the things on the website are). I love the fact that it easily slips through the letterbox. Although to be fair, I was loitering in the kitchen as Postie walked into the garden, but for the purposes of a fair test, I admit I did then 'post' through our letterbox to check! Haha!
So....what was inside?
A 65g bar of Anyone for Tiffin?, a 55g Brilliant Brownie and a 65g (Choc) Chip off the Old Block chocolate chip shortbread.
Included also was a good quality greetings card, of which you could choose from a number of designs, and include your own personalised message. Personally, I think this little sheep is so cute! :o)
The goodies were nestled into the letterbox friendly sized box, in which Sugar Poke had placed some vibrant red tissue paper. I was very impressed with the initial look of the goodies, you could tell that time and effort had gone into making up the order, due to the layout of the items within the box.
When it arrived in the post M said to me, 'you always get post!' which is not *quite true* so she was very happy when she realised that this was something SHE could get stuck into too! B, my very own chocolate, biscuit and cake monster was extremely excited, so much so that he was making 'mmmmmm' noises at the bars BEFORE we had even opened them. He was desperate to try them, in fact that he asked me at least ten times during the day when we were going to eat them!
So...the taste test. The big question was...seeing as they all looked yummy....which one to try first?!
The first one we opened was (Choc) Chip off the Old Block, which I must say was delicious. The shortbread was a buttery kind of shortbread that melted in your mouth and the chocolate chips scattered throughout it just made it even more delicious. M liked this one, and B said it was yummy, so a big thumbs up from us all.
The second one we opened was Brilliant Brownie (which B had been eyeing from the start!) which was equally as delicious. It was moist and chewy - everything that had been promised in the description - it does not surprise me that it is an award winning brownie. M was not so keen on this, which is NO reflection on the product itself, she doesn't really like chocolate cake (yes...I know...what the? lol) so B's reaction more than made up for it. The way we taste tested each of the items was to have a small bit each, leaving some of the bar left....and somehow the rest of the Brilliant Brownie disappeared into the deepest depths of B's bedroom, never to be seen again. So...I think I am safe to say it was a HUGE winner with him.
The last one we opened was the Anyone for Tiffin? bar. Now I'll admit I was not sure what Tiffin was, so I wasn't sure what to expect. A little bit like chocolate refridgerator cake, I think is what it can be described as. B and M were not so keen, so this meant I could have this treat to myself - and it was very rich and chocolatey. There were honeycomb pieces scattered throughtout it gave it a very sophisticated edge. It was very moreish. A big thumbs up from me.
So if our first impression of Honeycomb and Heaven was good, by the time we'd finished eating the contents, we were hooked! The concept behind the Sugar Poke website is ingenious, one which we will definately be using in the future. i explained how the website worked to the children, and B and M have both said that they want to send Nanna something like the package we received! :o)
All in all, our overall opinion of the Sugar Poke gift is that it's a wonderful idea. There are so many different things that can be sent via post. The price shown on the website includes first class postage. Plus, if you order before 2pm, your goodies are sent the SAME DAY! The one that we received was sent first class on the Friday, and we received it on the Saturday morning, but you'd have to bear in mind at peak times, it may take a little longer for your items to be sent. Prices for the packages start at just £4.99 so there will be something suitable for every budget available. I think that Honeycomb and Heaven is also reasonably priced, and I would definately buy this again to send as a gift.
If you haven't visted Sugar Poke's website yet, I strongly recommend that you do. You can also follow them on Twitter (@SugarPokeUK).
Disclaimer: for the purposes of the review we were sent a Honeycomb and Heaven package. The thoughts and opinions expressed are entirely our own, honest review of both the product and the company.
